Firearms Trainer's Podcast = Get a Grip with LockedIn Grip
In this week’s episode we talk with Brian Hill about getting a grip on your pistol.

The Complete Combatant did some research and was unable to find any liquid chalk on the market that is dedicated solely to the SHOOTING SPORTS. The Complete Combatant decided to fill that need with their LockedIn Grip Liquid SHOOTING SPORTS Chalk, a MUST for all shooters.

One of the major benefits of using LockedIn Grip Liquid Shooting Sports Chalk is drying out those sweaty palms which creates a better connection to the firearm bringing your attention to the "action" of shooting.

LockedIn Grip Liquid Shooting Sports Chalk can bring awareness to your grip's form. Losing your grip during shooting means you are no longer able to complete the task at hand or to continue shooting safely. LockedIn Grip will ensure a LockedIn Grip every time.

LockedIn Grip Liquid Shooting Sports Chalk can increase your grip strength, yep......research has found that the increased friction with the use of liquid chalk over long periods of time can deliver surprising positive results regarding grip strength.

Another benefit of using LockedIn Grip Liquid Shooting Sports Chalk is that it can provide an extra layer of protection that can shield your hands of pesky shooting "wear and tear" injuries.

LockedIn Grip Liquid Shooting Sports Chalk is less mess and has NO dust like normal dry chalk. Liquid form chalk will dry on your hands within seconds, as the alcohol evaporates, leaving you with a very dry, evenly chalked-up palms.

Most commonly ask question: Can using grip chalk in training hurt my grip in a personal protection encounter?
  • One solution is to put liquid chalk on your hands at the beginning of each day (and/or throughout the day), especially if you work in a field that may require you to "go hands-on" or shoot, but for most of us, this is a cumbersome requirement.
  • As shooters, we often do things in training that are suboptimal, such as no concealment, no movement, shooting a different pistol, using gloves, and shooting stationary targets, and yet we believe training to be important to our competence and therefore worth the risk.
  • One of the challenges is that our hands tend to be lubricated by sweat, oils, sunscreen, and moisturizers allowing the support hand to slip on the primary hand without any real feedback during the process. The grip is managed both visually (how the sight behaves) and by feel (how connected we are to the pistol).
  • Repetitions that are mindful and have immediate feedback loop help build automaticity in our skills so the shooter can apply meaningful context. Since the feel is not immediately noticed it creates bad habits such as milking the support hand. Grip chalk creates an immediate feedback loop (.25 seconds or less) through friction and tactile acuity (feel) making each repetition more meaningful and corrections to either be preemptive or corrective during the execution. If our practice creates a greater connection to the grip and our ability to trust or correct our grip is well practiced, we will be better shooters.
  • Much like a gymnast or powerlifter that has trained their grip with chalk, they still be able to perform a repetition of a pull-up or a deadlift without grip chalk. As a grappler, I have used grip chalk in training but I have still been able to grip opponents in a defensive encounter because my practice allowed me to notice when I was losing my connection sooner.
  • Training (competition, self protection, performance, aka the shooting sports) should impart a deep connection to how our hands manage grip through a feedback loop and achieve a grip that absorbs recoil without inferring further error to the shooting. The importance of good reps in training to build competence is more meaningful overall to proper grip in all situations.

Big shout out to Shelley and Brian Hill of The Complete Combatant. They are pimping a new product that can help you out! It’s a simple and inexpensive product, really, that you, as a shooter, should not ignore.

We went shooting today and I just wanted to say something about this new Locked In Grip liquid shooting sports chalk. It’s magic! No, it’s not magic, but it might as well be. Shannon and I both enjoyed using it today on two Beretta APXs and her Sig 320 XCarry. It works. It’s not gimmicky. The $h** just plain works! It really helped to aid and assist with a proper shooting grip, eliminating the sweat we normally get after shooting on a hot Southern summer day.

So, a big shout out to you two over there at the Complete Combatant. You’re doing great things! They’re simply great people and you should do business with them.

That’s the down low. And that’s my Instructor opinion, for what it’s worth. Take it or leave it, but I think you should take it!

Hot Florida sun 100+ heat index....I used LockedIn Grip and my hands stayed dry.  My grip was firm and secure.  Now the rest of me....looked like I showered in my range clothes.  This product does what it is advertised to do.  I am so glad I bought this and it will always be in my range bag.

“Hey Memphis, how do you like LockedIn Grip? Better than the other stuff?” Yeah, I like Locked In Grip better.

1. I support The Complete Combatant and their mission. They’re great people, and if I can meet my needs while supporting great people, I’ll do it.
2. It’s actually a superior product to basic grip chalk. It absorbs the moisture so it doesn’t cake up like grip chalk.
3. The rock-climbing grip products are a balancing act for me personally. Too little and it sucks, but too much will wreck my whole day until I find a place to wash my hands. LockedIn Grip simply keeps my hands from getting clammy and slippery, and that’s exactly what I need.

I’ve got a bottle in my range bag, and a couple spares just in case.
Memphis Beech Coaching

I tried LOCKEDIN GRIP this weekend as a lark during a hot & humid 3 day Deliberate Coaching class with Brian Hill. I had never tried grip enhancers before (never felt the need for them) so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it helps as described.

I don't normally have a problem with grip issues so this simply enhanced my grip. Got in front of a blister forming from repeatedly drawing and just locked it in when sweat & sunscreen threatened a bit of slickness. All in all highly recommended!
