If you are your first responder, then you are responsible for a wide array of skill sets. Seeing, recognizing, and believing danger is the first task. Having a plan for avoidance, deselection and escalation is second. If these fail, the fight is on, and it must be won. The first time you have to use the different levels of force, and everything is on the line, should not be the first time you practice your non-lethal (mindset, verbal, walk away, flashlight, etc.), less then lethal (OC/pepper spray, Combatives, etc.) and lethal options (firearms, advanced Combatives, etc.).

One of the areas students can improve their self protection skills is through organization and efficiency in their approach to practice. Methodology, structure, and feedback are critical elements that are often overlooked, but provide the best options for improvement. Strategy, tactics, and techniques need to be practiced until they can be performed with unconscious competence. Equally as important is the client's mindset, and how they can strengthen their performance under pressure. Believe it or not, decisions are more important then techniques.

We have specifically designed The Complete Combatant for our US citizens that "carry or want to". Brian has always seen a need for the varied disciplines of self protection to be combined. Proper strategy, escalation of force and employment of tools…is one complete subject. Making good decisions, thinking ahead, the proper use of non-lethal, less then lethal and lethal tools will help you to fight back more effectively. Being creative, tool cycling and adapting could save you or a loved one.

MEET THE OWNERS

Brian Hill is co-owner and head Coach at The Complete Combatant, a Heckler & Koch (HK) Brand Ambassador, a presenter at National Conferences and past owner of Fusion Fitness and MMA until 2020 where the social distancing, illness, and job loss of many students from COVID-19 forced us to close the doors. Brian is a PHLster sponsored instructor, an active team member of Active Self Protection (ASP) focusing on weekly videos on their channel and an endorsed instructor.  He is a Certified Red Dot and endorsed instructor with Scott Jedlinski of Modern Samurai Project, a Rangemaster Mast Firearms Instructor and holds many Black Belt in the Martial Arts. He has over 35 years experience in training and instructional combative firearm techniques and Martial Arts. His expertise is primarily in the context of the armed citizen. “I have been a Martial Arts student since I was 14, and an instructor since I was 18. Training & instructing in combative firearm techniques, martial arts, and physical fitness have always been my passion. I believe that you must be a student for life and train to be creative and adapt. Look for opportunities that may save your life in a combative situation."
Shelley Hill is co-owner, XO, Coach, and wears a "bunch of hats"! Brian named her the Indispensable Organization Wizard about 20 years ago and that has become her official title. She is a HK Brand Ambassador, an Active Self Protection Certified Instructor, Instructor Graduate of Modern Samurai Project's Red Dot Instructor program, NRA Certified Instructor, Certified NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, Refuse to be a Victim Instructor and is a Certified OC (Pepper Spray) Instructor through Chuck Haggard's Agile Training & Consulting. Shelley the designer and mastermind behind Image Based Decisional Drills, Smart Choices , The Complete Combatant's annual The Mingle for professional ladies in the "firearms/self defense" industry and The Quest for red dot shooters. She presented at Active Self Protection's National Conference, at The Well Armed Woman's Shooting Chapters National Leadership Conference and A Girl and a Gun's National Conference. She is a public speaker and loves to train!

The Complete Combatant's founders, Brian and Shelley Hill, are President and Vice President of a 501c3 nonprofit organization called Blue Line Ponies, Inc. Blue Line Ponies is a retirement range (we now have 2 locations in North Georgia) dedicated to our country's service horses. This usually includes Mounted Patrol Unit, police horses, prison horses, search & rescue, and border patrol horses. These mature horse age out or are retired due to "lameness" and can easily end up in a kill pen, an abusive home where they are worked until they collapse, or are sold over and over again and are never truly "retired". Blue Line Ponies mission is to love, safeguard the dignity and comfort of our hard working ponies and to continue to provide the best care throughout their retirement. They worked tirelessly working with their human partners and they deserve nothing but the best. Why did they name it Blue Line Ponies? Good question! The "thin blue line" is a term that typically refers to the concept of the police as the line which keeps society from descending into violent chaos. The "blue" in "thin blue line" refers to the blue color of the uniforms of many police departments. They chose this name because it represents both police and police ponies, and the ideals of justice and freedom.

Yes, math matters! Our CORE Rifle target has precise measurements for zeroing, hold overs, height or bore, offset, and more! We also added numbers and letters out of sequence so it challenges your thought process and decisions. It even has different hostage rescue "head shots" with smaller areas to test your precision. DON'T SHOOT THE HEAD W THE ANT, THAT IS THE HOSTAGE.

The CORE Rifle Target was specifically designed for the rifle shooter to combine the best attributes of zeroing, precision shooting, tactical anatomy and context driven shooting (hostage, shooting the proper part of the body, recoil management and decision making) into one useful target.

DEFINITION OF SUCCESS: To quickly make ONE good FIRST decision based on visual stimuli & instantly act on it. Be confident, decisive, efficient, & explosive.

Decisions are more important than techniques. Our goal in IBDD is to supply an avenue to learn good decision and provide some simple, yet very effective techniques. Please consider attending additional in person or online classes that can help strengthen your non lethal, less than lethal and lethal skills. IBDD focuses on making ONE good FIRST decision and will give you an excellent place to practice new skills or sharpen new ones.

Image Based Decisional Drills is a well thought out dry practice or live fire exercise with a deck of 21 Image Cards (with and without additional "tools") that provide IMAGES that will help you to recognize danger and to make smart decisions ahead of time. Our image based learning system is another beneficial step on your way to making good decisions quickly.

Image Based Decisional Drills will help teach you to you access the situation using a mental simulation for a plausible course of action, allowing you to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the strategies in the content of the scenario. Smart Kid Choices is all about communicating  with your child, student, grandchild, etc. with the use of images to help them recognize danger, build confidence, and make smart choices.  There’s a reason your child’s storybooks are filled with colorful pictures and images.  Visuals are proven to help increase learning retention for kids, adds context and makes it easier for kids to follow along and interpret the context of the point you are trying to get across. Our main focus at the moment is our Smart Kid Cards. The scenarios that each image provides will give you a change to promote GOOD FIRST DECISIONS.  With each conversation, you will be putting your kids in a position of preparedness, where they can draw on knowledge from a past experience, or in this case, a past card conversation. They know what to do!
